Welcome to the Motherlode Century!
After much thought we have regrettably decided to not offer the event this year. We will only conduct the ride when we have a very high degree of certainty that it will be a top quality experience for all participants and volunteers. All those that have registered have been issued refunds. Thank you to those that have participated in the past and please look for us again next year.
Our mission is to provide you the best bicycle event Northern California has to offer. We promise your positive experience here will not only compel you to participate every year, but will also entice you to return to enjoy a river trip, wine tasting or the many products this bountiful area has to offer.
This century bike ride partners with:
Friends of El Dorado Trails, building a trail from South Lake Tahoe to Folsom!
Susan G. Komen , Save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.
American River Conservancy, ensuring healthy ecosystems within the Upper American and upper Cosumnes River Watersheds through land conservation, stewardship and education.
The Motherlode is conveniently staged in the foothills of the El Dorado County Gold Country, and offers four tours from 35 leisurely to 95 challenging miles. Please see our Routes page for maps and descriptions.
The start/finish is located in the beautiful Coloma Valley just upstream of the gold discovery site that brought the 49’ers west. Our host camp is American River Resort located in Coloma, CA on the South Fork of the American River.
Each year’s event provides a wealth of valuable feedback that we use to improve every facet of the ride. Check out a very descriptive rider write-up in Road Bike Review.com .
Not only is this area a mecca for recreation, but also a center of fine food, wine and beer production. The cycling is unforgettable, and the weekend incredibly affordable! It is just a short drive from Sacramento and Lake Tahoe, offers plenty of recreation, inexpensive restaurants, and discounted camping, and lodging. Please check out our Area Info page to get started! We promise you will find more activities here (most of them free!) than you can fit in a long weekend.
