Directions:

From Sacramento –  
Go east on Highway 50.
Continue on Highway 50 for about 30 miles.
Take the Ponderosa Road Exit (Exit #37).
Turn left to cross the freeway overpass.
Just after crossing the Freeway are two stoplights about 50 feet apart. Take a right at the 2nd stoplight onto North Shingle Road (becomes Lotus Road).
After about 10 miles, you will come to a stop sign. Go straight.
You’ll reach a 2nd stop sign at a T intersection with Highway 49 (about 2 miles).
Turn right at Highway 49.
Drive through Marshall Gold Discovery State Park.
Where Highway 49 makes a sharp right turn, go straight onto Coloma Heights Road.
Slight Left at New River Road to the American River Resort.

From South Lake Tahoe –                                                                                                 Go west on Highway 50.                                                                                                    Take the Ponderosa Road Exit (Exit #37).
At stoplight turn right.
Turn immediately right again onto North Shingle Road (becomes Lotus Road).
After about 10 miles, you will come to a stop sign. Go straight.
You’ll reach a 2nd stop sign at a T intersection with Highway 49 (about 2 miles).
Turn right at Highway 49.
Drive through Marshall Gold Discovery State Park.
Where Highway 49 makes a sharp right turn, continue straight onto Coloma Heights Road.
Slight Left at New River Road to the American River Resort.

From Reno –                                                                                                                     Take Interstate 80 to the Elm Avenue Exit in Auburn.Turn right at Elm Avenue.
Turn left at Highway 49.
Continue on Highway 49 for about 17 miles.
Drive through Marshall Gold Discovery State Park.
Where Highway 49 makes a sharp right turn, go straight onto Coloma Heights Road.
Slight Left at New River Road to the American River Resort.

Weather:  The average high and low temperatures for Coloma for September 10 is 87 and 60 degrees respectively.  Fall is spectacular with everything in vineyards changing color in this foothill region.  The ride goes rain or shine.

Routes begin at an elevation of 748′ and top out in Apple Hill at 3270′ with a lot of up and down in between.

Check-in will be open at American River Resort office at 6019 New River Road, between 4:30 and 7:30 pm on Saturday September 9; and Sunday  morning from 6:00 – 7:45 am.  Please bring identification with you and your confirmation email as back up registration evidence.

What Should I Pack? – We will send out weather forecast  emails just prior to the event.  The weather this time of year is normally warm, dry and stunningly clear however it is September and we do climb into the foothills so bring a variety of gear to be comfortable.  It’s like an umbrella, if you pack it you won’t need it.  Clothes drop service will be provided at the first three aid stations.   Refer to the Area Info page to consider all of the other recreational offerings available.  Please bring on the ride:  spare tube, patch kit, pump, ID, a little cash and two large water bottles.

  • Carpool ( bringing a friend is fun ) to the event.
  • Leave your car at your Saturday night lodging location.
  • Place all refuse in the appropriate marked receptacles.
  • Recycle any unwanted literature in camp
  • Use your water bottle in lieu of cups.
